Family Camp 2009

Well, we've just returned from family camp at Lake Sequoia (AKA Jordan Million's paradise). Camping with a 4 and a 1/2 month old is really not too difficult. It just makes hikes a bit more challenging. Lugging a nearly 20 lb baby uphill at high altitude is not as much fun as you would think. But Boaz had SUCH a good time.
Things Boaz liked about camp: looking at the trees, seeing new faces, giggling at the other kids running around, watching Jordan play basketball and volleyball, sipping cold water from my glass on a hot day, the perfect camp Sequoia weather, playing with grass, being thrown up in the air, watching his cousin Asher having fun, and sitting in the shade at the waterfront.

Things Boaz didn't like about camp: the cold lake water.

So, as you can see, camp was a hit. Here are some pictures. Sorry again that I haven't figured out how to turn some of them.

Falling asleep on hikes
Ah, family
He looks so good in hats
Can't help but smile when you're at camp
LOVES to fly
Wanna see my Elvis impression?
He has no problem with affection
I'm sad it's sideways, it's such a good picture! Just before a sneeze
And the eyes have it
Our tent was a little mildew-smelling, so this was our solution. I like this picture.

Four months! Well, starting tomorrow

Enjoying the way water feels on his hands.

So, we had his 4 month check up today. 17 lbs 4oz (90th percentile), 26 inches long/tall (86th percentile), 17 inch head (76th percentile), and perfect intelligence (100th percentile). The pediatrician was quite charmed with the cooing and smiling Boaz today in spite of the fact that he was way overdue for a nap. Then, it all changed when he got his shots. Soooo sad. It's pretty sad seeing a happy baby face turn into a "Did you just stab me?" crying hysterically face. Luckily, he recovers quickly.

We get to start solids! I think we'll do a little rice cereal tomorrow. It's so crazy to think of feeding him from a spoon instead of from my dirty pillows. I'm not going to rush into anything though, the kid is by no means starving.

He's a swinger

Nothing this boy likes more than being pushed in a swing and getting his limbs fake-bitten by his mama.

4th of July at Green Valley Lake

For this year's fourth of July, we headed up to the Million family cabin. It was Bo's first time extra-utero and he seemed to be a big fan. All this boy needs (other than my milk-filled fun bags) is a hammock and the wind blowing in the trees. He got to ride in a canoe, be in a parade, watch Asher model toddler perfection, and swing on a swingset. The weather was perfect, and the food was bountiful. Viva las Estados Unidos!

Melt away, my friends (as he did in the sun, oops)
Hammock is the cure-all for this child
A Boaz by any other name
The Patti-made vests worked perfectly as a hooter-hider
These colors don't run and neither do I! I don't even crawl yet!
The vests blowing in the wind
The best float of the day
The "Blue house men"
Ever notice that dogs look like their owners?
Enjoying the Canoe on the lake. The guys never did beat their 1 min 28 sec record from buoy to buoy (yes, I had to look up how to spell that word, thanks for wondering, dad)
